BeLoved (Memory Jugs) created for exhibitions at Taos Art Museum, Taos, NM and BeLoved at Harwood Art Center, ABQ NM. Memory Jugs are an ancestral practice by formerly enslaved Americans to honor their dead reminiscent of the practices of the Bakongo People. Formerly enslaved Americans were denied access to burying practices like honoring their loved ones with headstones.
